Our Heritage
The slow art of the wooden ghani.
In the coastal groves of Udupi, time moves differently. Here, we don’t rush perfection. Puraathana is born from a reverence for tradition—using the ancient wooden ‘chekku’ or ‘ghani’ method passed down through generations of our family.
Industrial presses generate heat that destroys the vital nutrients of the coconut. Our heavy wooden press turns agonizingly slow. It extracts the golden oil at room temperature, preserving the delicate aroma, the deep flavor, and every drop of nourishment.
What you hold in a bottle of Puraathana is not just oil. It is the scent of the sea breeze, the warmth of the sun-dried copra, and the quiet dignity of hands that know the old ways are still the best ways.

The Gift of PURAATHANA
Nourishment for body,
inside and out.
Because we use no heat or chemicals in our extraction process, every drop of PURAATHANA
retains the coconut’s complete nutritional profile.
Deep Skin Hydration
Rich in medium-chain fatty acids that penetrate deeply, leaving skin extraordinarily soft without a greasy residue.
Nourished Hair
Strengthens from root to tip. The natural proteins bind to hair, reducing breakage and restoring natural luster.
Heart-Healthy Cooking
A stable cooking fat packed with lauric acid, raising good cholesterol and adding a delicate, sweet aroma to your dishes.
Pure & Unrefined
No bleaching, no deodorizing, no chemicals. Just the pure essence of fresh coastal coconuts.
The ritual
How we craft golden perfection.

Step 01
The Harvest
We select only mature, fully ripened coconuts from
trusted local groves along the Karnataka coast.
Step 02
Sun Drying
The coconuts are halved and dried naturally under
the tropical sun to create perfect copra, concentrating
the oils.

Step 03
Wood Pressing
The copra is slowly crushed in our traditional wooden ‘chekku’. The wood absorbs any friction heat, keeping the oil cool.
Step 04
Settling & Bottling
We let the oil settle naturally for days before
filtering through cotton and pouring it into glass bottles.
